The Best Hiking Shirt
Can be Stink Free!

A hiking shirt that doesn't stink after hours of climbing? It's possible with the right fabric.

What you wear will depend a bit on the weather. I have some great poly fabric shirts that have build in sun protection in the fabric and I wear them on hot, sunny days. They are light weight, comfy, dry quickly and have some handy little pockets.

But I have slowly been switching over to my favourite merino wool shirts, especially for backpacking. If you are dayhiking I would wear what is comfortable, keeps you dry and gives you sun protection if you need it.

For backpacking I need a shirt that I can wear more than once and I don't want it to stink after the first day. That's why I love my merino wool short sleeved top.

Most of my merino wool clothing comes from Icebreaker which offers amazing clothing and I personally like the company philosphy. Check them out for yourself! You might fall in love with them too.

I'd recommend a shirt that covers your shoulders and offers some breathability features. Just make sure that whatever hiking shirt you use can wick away moisture and is tough enough to stand up to the outdoors.
